The Austrian Chapter of Club of Rome was very actively involved as an official partner in the preparation and execution of the Beyond Growth Conference from May 13-15 in Vienna held at the Parliament and the Billroth House. While our member Katy Shields was significantly involved in the preparation as part of the conferences organization team, Fritz Hinterberger also served on the advisory board.

Katy Shields moderated several panels and Fritz Hinterberger co-moderated the focus group on the topic of “Money: Financial Risks from Growth Pressure and Ecological Crisis,” with participants including representatives from the Austrian National Bank and the WIIW. Additionally, he took part in a panel discussion on “Indicators – Measuring Prosperity Differently” and in the focus group “Work: Who are the relevant actors, and what examples are there in the field of work?” where he presented his concept “50.000 Hours are enough.” Our member Meike Bukowski also participated in the focus group on “Society: How much wealth can our planet handle?” As a “special guest,” Till Kellerhoff, Program Director of The Club of Rome, was invited to the round table “Grown in Transition.” The topics and discussion results will also be included in the Austria report on the topic of Earth4All.

A complete report is still pending. In the meantime, we recommend reviewing the panel “Indicators” on the second day:
